Last week I was talking to Simon about how I am finding less things to blog about this year. I read several web sites looking for the latest and greatest in technology or some new software that is a ‘must have’. I don’t really blog about anything in my life besides gaming because, well; this isn’t MySpace or Facebook!
A usual site for me is Digg.com as it has 30+ new posts every 24 hours. However lately, it’s all been trash. If it’s not pictures of lolcats, it’s YouTube videos or a whole shit load of politics. I don’t mind discussing politics and having an open floor for comments, but the Digg.com front page is 80% politics, all the time. The rest is images, and 2 tech posts.
The problem is that articles hit the Digg front page when a certain number of users have ‘dug’ the post. So unfortunately the same users are digging the same garbage, to make it hit the front page.
Slashdot has been the original source for technology news since years before the launch of Digg. People laughed at Slashdot when Digg was released. Well, the Digg community has obviously changed, and now Slashdot has 30% more technology related articles per month over Digg.

Here is the number of technology related posts on Digg from January 30th, to February 5th:
Tuesday, Feb 5, 2008: 22
Monday, Feb 4, 2008: 11
Sunday, Feb 3, 2008: 13
Saturday, Feb, 2 2008: 12
Friday, Feb 1, 2008 2008: 14
Thursday, Jan 31, 2008: 16
Wednesday, Jan 30, 2008: 18
These are just a few samples I read over at Mashable.

Its unfortunate the new way that Digg is headed. I wonder what would happen if Digg were sold. I had a dream on this… but it was pretty radical on it lol.

All I know is that I don’t go to Digg anymore, unless I need a funny picture for a mass forward.
