Recently, people in my clan have been leaving 2142 for other things, and not by choice. EA has disregarded 2142 for so long, it has become unplayable (for us hardcore gamers, anyways). Sure, you can login for an hour here, and an hour there, with most likely having no issues.
But for my friends and I, we go pretty hard. We have rank to uphold, and kill / death ratios to reach.
As of late, 2142 has been plagued with more hackers than ever before. Two of my clan members have had their accounts hacked, for no apparent reason, and attempted stat wipes. Our clan server is #1 in the world, so we get a lot of hits from all over the globe. However, we have 40+ active admins, and we have 300+ bans a month. These aren’t just suspected hacker bans, these are bans that have been caught previously and using a hash generator they get back in.
I personally have had enough of this, and I am pretty sure I will be hanging up my guns for 2142.
My final decision came tonight, and here is an excerpt from the Gamers United Network forum:
EA is making this ol’ Lochdog frustrated. I froze so hard tonight whilst playing, I had to power down my system. We all know it’s not my rig, it’s 2142, and it’s getting worse.
We got hackers everywhere, glitchers daily, accounts being hacked for fun, a leader board plagued by hackers, and I’ve just had enough.
I’m at a loss as to what to do. Do I keep pwning noobs hard to 3.0 K/D ratio? And deal with all the flak from 2142, and the constant rebooting of my system mid game?
Or, do I move on and continue to forum pad? I don’t know guys, but I am seriously at my limit with 2142.
With that being said, I have some decisions to make. I tried going back to EVE Online this weekend, as with my new PC and the graphics update, it looks and runs amazing. But EVE is slow, very slow. A politics driven game can be like a second job.
If I do quit, I will be leaving the following statistics behind:
Kills: 27,913
Deaths: 10,090
World Rank: 7,934
Canada Rank: 223
Favorite Weapon (Ganz HMG): Top 200 in the world. 9,000+ kills.
Rank: Brigadier General

Mark,
I felt the same way you do not too long ago. Just take a few days or weeks off from the game.

Call of Duty is for girls.
The multiplayer is WTFEASYMODE and takes 2 days to max rank.
I am in EVE Online, and will post more about that later.

I do miss my Ganz already but, I do not miss random desktop crashing and freezing, while having someone in TS scream “HACKER!!!!”

Hey, you accused me of using hothead’s aimbot a few times when i got the jump on you. =)

Which was actually quite a compliment in my eyes. Most of our clan is quite a bit better than me. Yea, including you but i guess after playing against you guys so much has caused me to up my game.
I wont mind a break from BF2142 but im sure as hell not quitting.

If EA released a patch to fix the hacking, wiped the stats of half the people in the top 10, fixed the server crashing from 64 man servers, and stopped the random freezing, crash to desktop, or lock ups, then maybe I would still play.
But alas, that will never happen.
It’s not good on your rig to play a game that constantly makes you power button a couple times a week, you’re really degrading the hardware value at that point.
